Six Years Later

Today is Harrison's 6th birthday...and he knows it. He has been in such a great mood all day, laughing when I sing to him every five minutes, loving the attention he has gotten from his teachers and classmates, watching video texts of his friends and a even a babysitter singing Happy Birthday to him...the kid is a rock star! He even took a selfie!

Harrison has been doing amazing with eating lately- he gobbles spoonfuls down so fast and that mouth opens up for more like a baby bird. His favorites are avocado plain or mixed with turkey, Greek yogurt, marscapone cheese with cinnamon and some almond crackers, turkey or chicken with veggies like cauliflower and eggplant (pureed), coconut milk, egg salad, and tonight he tried tofu with some canned pumpkin- definitely liked it! For dessert he really wasn't bothered that he couldn't have birthday cake...fresh whipped cream with a little Stevia and a candle was perfect.

I last wrote in November, so I will present a photo highlight of our winter (so far...these New England winters last a long time, ugh):
Thanksgiving and Chanuka and Christmas were festive and cozy with family and lots of fun presents...

He had a wonderful visit with Auntie Nicole who moved to NYC but always sends him fun cards for every occasion- Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, his birthday of course...he is always so excited to see her because he knows he will be getting lots of cuddling!

Harrison continues to make amazing developmental progress as well. Still having lots of seizures, unfortunately, but we are playing with his meds and one day we will get rid of them for good! In the meantime, he is using his eyes and hands so much more, he is so vocal, he is sitting and standing and walking so much stronger...it's really a beautiful thing to see. He loves his private physical therapist  (he loves the PT at school too) and he has fun talking to and punching Sponge Bob!

He loves to be with his friends in school and for playdates- he even pushed one of his girlfriends around in his wheelchair at a birthday party!
He continues to ride and swim, and I especially love how much more interested he is in the dogs, reaching out to pet them, playing with their fur, and bless them they just sit there and let him do whatever he wants. His 4-legged brother is still his protector.

So all in all life is good. I will admit that this morning and pretty much all day I was a little down, and I have my suspicions as to why, a list that could go on. But from the second I got Harry off the school bus until I hoisted the big lug into bed and kissed him goodnight, I have been in a great mood- we both have! I'm very okay with that.
